Ministry of Sound The Annual 2013 Review

                           From www.purplesneakers.com.au
Ever since the Ministry of Sound record company was founded back in 1995, they have been supplying us with the freshest and hottest complilations and I just can't get enough of them. The Annual 2013 was released back in November and I loved the 63 songs they gathered together to create their collection. With an eclectic mix of chart hits, dance anthems and infectious house, this CD has pretty much everything you need! Here is my pick of the best tunes on the compilation.

Stooshe- Black Heart (Wookie Remix)

I loved Black Heart when it was released, and this remix impressed me. I love the dance tones and  it definitely gives the song a more uplifiting feel in comparison to the original.

Harder Than You Think- Public Enemy

You may recognise this tune as it was used a lot during the Paralympics and has been played in a number of adverts and films. Public Enemy are the modern day alternative to Run DMC and this hit is infectious.

Madeon- The City

This is definitely a feel- good hit, and here Ministry of Sound moved away from its love of dance and dub by including this pop song. I guarantee you will be hitting repeat with this one.

NERVO & Hook N Sling - Reason

This song has all the ingredients you need to cook up a perfect dance hit, and with a music video that includes denim shorts, pink hair and skaters, it definitely makes me wish it was summer again!

A-Trak & Zinc- Like The Dancefloor (ft. Natalie Storm)

With playful lyrics and an infectious rhythmn, this song that is dominated by Natalie Storm is definitely one of my favourites. I love the festival feel to the music video too- perfect tune to get you in the mood for the warmer months.

DJ Fresh - Gold Dust (Shy FX Re-Edit)

This tune was massive when it was released back in 2010, and I love this re-edit even more. Slowing the tempo with reggae tones and contrasting it to the drum and bass that emerges a third of the way through the song gives it an addictive quality.

BURNS - Lies (Otto Knows Remix)

Thought I would finish on a high note with this remix. Thumping beats, frantic violins and a retro-inspired music video- what more do you need?

After 6 Years, Justin Timberlake Releases The 20/20 Experience & Confirms Another Album for This Year!

After much anticipation, former N*Sync member Justin Timberlake released his new album aptly named 'The 20/20 Experience'. The listener is in for a treat with his third studio album as it is a rich and eclectic mix of sound and rhythmn, all compacted into ten powerful songs.
                            From losangelesleakers.com
The collection begins with Pusher Love Girl, a song that contains the beautiful utilisation of stringed instruments, with producer Timbaland's womping. With exciting beginnings, the album progresses with Timberlake's first single to be released Suit and Tie. Slick and slow, the song evolves into a magically melodic and completely addictive tune. Don't Hold The Wall is an epic compliation in itself, as it adopts an Eastern quality and is reminiscent of the infectious pop that made up his previous album.
Tunnel Vision has Timbaland's name written all over it, with a sub-bass quality and a repetitive whistling, the pair have definitely got it spot on with this tune- it will definitely be a contender for  single release. What I was most impressed with on this album was the length of the songs. Tunnel Vision is over six minutes long, Spaceship Coupe is more than seven minutes and Mirrors is just over eight.
                                   From content.hollywire.com
My favourite track on the album had to be That Girl. With a speakeasy-esque introduction to JT and the Tennessee Kids, the song has a smoothly mixed tempo, a jazzy feel and retro melodic atmosphere. Strawberry Bubblegum was the least impressive track, as the listener has to endure a  woman making sexual noises half way through the song- perhaps the sensual aspect could have been toned down.
Timberlake had his album launch party this week, where he confirmed on Twitter:

@jtimberlake: "I gotta clear a rumor up. This whole thing about this being the first half of the album is TRUE." #iHeartJT #confirmed

Despite the lack of release date, you can be sure to expect 20/20 part II in November!

I give this album-   ★★★★

Bow Down to Beyonce! Singer's New Single Receives Mixed Reviews

Queen of pop Beyonce caused a stir yesterday when she released a brand new song on her Tumblr page- 'Bow Down/I Been On'. Rumours about her highly anticipated fifth studio album release have been circulating, with many assuming it will be named 'Mrs Carter' (after her tour).

Back in February, Ticketmaster experienced extreme problems with the sheer volume of demand for Beyonce's tour tickets, leaving hundreds of disappointed fans to express their anger on Twitter.
                   From 25.media.tumblr.com
New single Bow Down has not recieved 100% positive views however. The song is adventurous and fresh, something which some fans were disillusioned by.

One Twitter user said: "Telling b!shes to bow down in your 30s is never cute."
Another said:  "So I absolutely ❤❤❤ Beyonce! But.... Bow Down is a bit too hood for my liking.... #BowDown

It contains distorted voices which contrast her mystifyingly ethereal high notes and fans will also recognise the regal melody from her tour teaser that was shown last month.

It's 'don't mess with me' vibe is definitely another empowering tune for Beyonce, and with the words 'Bow Down B*tches', I don't think anyone will be forgetting who she is and where she is from!

I personally loved the single, what do you think?

One Direction Swap the Booze for Peppermint Tea on Tour

Despite raising eyebrows through their body art, boy band One Direction have said to have shunned alcohol whilst on their tour, and instead request peppermint tea.
                  From 28.media.tumblr.com
They drank tea at the last Brit Awards back in February and were reported to have told the organisers of their Manchester leg that they wanted a large amount of teabags on standby.
The company Higher Living came to the band's aide, supplying them with some specially brewed organic tea.
A source said that:

"The lads and their management team have specifically asked to keep their dressing room low-key before the shows and requested tea in there rather than booze." -- A far cry from the diva antics of the likes of Mariah Carey!

                                               From www.pharmaplus.com.sg
One Direction's Louis Tomlinson even has a tattoo of a cup of tea on his arm. In the end, who can resist a lovely brew?!

Justin Bieber Disgusts his Fans by Turning Up to His Concert 2 Hours Late

Prince of Pop Justin Bieber sent fans into a frenzy when he revealed he would be playing at London's O2 Arena for four nights this month. However 'Beliebers' were extremely let down when the Canadian singer arrived to his first show last night two hours late.

                             From i.telegraph.co.uk

As thousands of excited fans descended on the Greenwich venue last night, eagerly anticipating the moment they would see their 19 year-old idol in the flesh, they were no less than disgusted when Bieber decided to show up at 10.35pm, a mere 25minutes before his set was due to finish. A large majority of his fans were under the age of 16, so were accompanied by extremely agitated andunsatisfied parents.  Many took to Twitter to express their anger at the 'Beauty and the Beat' singer's "disgusting behaviour". Others on the social networking site claimed the singer did not apologise and "what he did last night was really arrogant"

(above: empty seats at the O2 last night)

Because he had such young fans and the event had taken place on a school night, many parents were forced to leave the event early as their children were tired and disappointed. In addition, the last train from the venue was at 12:15am and with pressure to leave from the warnings of Transport For London, a majority of fans missed some, if not all of the show- the set was also cut down by half an hour to conform to time constraints.

                                   From 2.bp.blogspot.com

Bieber was supported by actor Will Smith's son, 14 year-old Jaden and Carly Rae Jepson followed. The O2 claimed Jepson would be on until 8pm and Justin would appear half an hour later, but he never showed. By 9:30pm, sources claimed that booing began and fans became extremely restless. For those who paid more than £60 for a ticket, many are expected to demand refunds.

There was no reason given as to why the star was so late for his performance, and the Official O2  Arena Twitter account simply posted "Justin Bieber is now on stage and apologies for the lateness of his show" at 11:36pm.

This Afternoon he tweeted:
